Anchor Text and SEO
Google ranks webpages based on 2 main factors, content and links. But not both have the same weight. As good content will have good links, more weight is given to links. If your website has good content, it will basically attract more links and this is why Google place more shares on links.
Anchor text is one of the most important factors in linking. A simple example is by keying “click here” into Google and see the results yourself. If you notice, Adobe does not optimize anywhere on its website for the keyword, “click here”. And yet it can rank first out of billions of websites. The only reason behind it is linking. It has over 18 million links from Yahoo! Site Explorer. Having your links with anchor text that has your keywords is the right way to optimize for SERPs. You need to create varied anchor text and use it in different links. Also, do not collect links from the same IP.
